Finally, cold weather! I thought we were never going to have to use our jackets after the hot days in Switzerland and Italy. It was a pleasant surprise to feel cool again in the ‘capital of the European Union’. We had less than a day here before heading to Amsterdam so we stayed mostly around the Grand Place. Of course we also had our fill of Belgian Frites, Beer, Waffles and Chocolates 😁
Small flower market in the Grand Place
City Museum – site of the former bread market. It houses, among others, collections of the various costumes of Brussels’ most famous resident, Manneken Pis.
Manneken Pis – this tiny sculpture of a pissing boy is undoubtedly the star of Brussels. On special occasions, it takes time to put on some clothes 😀
Jeanneke Pis – Manneken Pis’ female counterpart. It’s a bit more difficult to find this one since fewer people crowd around her.
There were a lot of street performers too
Tin Tin! Probably the most famous product of the prolific comic book artists of Belgium.
