Feeling the heat in Rome

After a few days of soaking in art and culture in Florence, we were ready to enter the ancient city of Rome. We arrived in the evening so after meeting up with relatives, they took us to see the Vatican and the Colosseum. Both structures would be revisited several times during our stay in this historic city.

The fact that Rome is an ancient city is never forgotten for any tourist. At every corner there are ruins or old buildings to see. It’s amazing to actually see in person the great gladiator arena or walk the path that Julius Caesar used. One thing I didn’t like though was the lack of trees in the city. It was so hot and humid!

We would have loved to spend more time here to see the catacombs or take a tour of the unseen areas of the Colosseum. More places to return to next time (maybe in another season).

Colosseum – my favorite structure in Rome. Bucket list!
